Interested in being one of our on-call art-based workshop facilitators?
The Art Gallery of Mississauga is accepting ongoing applications for paid, contract Artist-Educators.
Opportunities are available to develop and lead arts or crafts workshops or classes, and also drop-in sessions for public events such as Family Day, Canada Day, or other civic festivals. Activities will take place virtually, onsite, or offsite within the City of Mississauga. Applicants must be able to commute to/from the Art Gallery of Mississauga for in person workshops, and must be technologically sufficient to facilitate online workshops.
Programs take many forms, including multi-week courses, weekend or single-day workshops, one-off artist talks, and specialized programs for community partner organizations. Arts supplies are provided by the AGM, and specialized equipment is limited.
We are seeking Artists with:
- Teaching experience to lead programs for children, youth, or adults.
- The experience of, and enthusiasm for communicating ideas clearly, inspiring creativity, developing technical confidence, and modeling inclusivity.
- A commitment to working with the Art Gallery of Mississauga Programs team to reach activity deadlines and budgets.
- The knowledge and ability to explore art or craft practices, histories, techniques, or materials.
Arts or crafts-based activity themes could explore:
- The practices or contexts of exhibiting our permanent collection art or artists.
- Mississauga and regional communities or histories including, and not limited to Indigenous, Black, Disability, and LGBTQ2S+ perspectives.
